For the readers who remember last years Vegas AVN adventure, where I took the greyhound bus to get there, and then managed to get a free press pass for POONTALK by a gentleman who felt sorry for me…
Well, this year, I drove from L.A. to Vegas with Lucky Starr. A cosmic bit of coincidence; from L.A. she booked us room 1138 at “The Plaza” hotel, which happened to be right next to and above the same greyhound bus stop where I arrived in Vegas last year! It wasn’t the best neighborhood in Vegas, as you can see by the parking sign I took a photo of.
When it came to getting a free press pass, I looked for the gentlemen who was there last year but he was nowhere to be found. I told the people there that I was press for POONTALK, and they said “Press for WHO?” I expected they would have me in their data banks from last year, but I was told they hold no data from past shows.
They asked me if I had a business card, and told me that would be sufficient to get in, but I told him I didn’t have any on me. The reason I had none with me was because I never had any made. A “friend” once told me I didn’t need any POONTALK business cards, that the great name of Poontalk was enough, to get me around. I guess not…
So me and Lucky walked around and got a few photos near the convention exit area and around the casino. Then we went back to hang out before heading out later to Will Ryder’s porno party at The Palazzo where I took more photos.
Saturday morning came and we got breakfast. Everywhere Lucky and I went we kept seeing various things which said “Lucky”, so I took some photos. Then it was time for the first round of the football playoffs. What else was I in town for? “Feeling lucky”, I had a hunch to bet 30 bucks on the New York Jets to win the superbowl at a 30-1 longshot (Currently, two games later, they’re still in the hunt as one of the unlikely final four). After the Jets won the wildcard game, Lucky and I went back up to the hotel room, and I was “feeling Lucky” some more.
Saturday night, we went to the red carpet and I took photos. One of the main highlights was Tanner Mayes, who seemed to be high on something, and kept flashing her tits. The management there were not pleased and threatened to send her away several times but she’d flash the crowd again anyway when they were not looking while walking up, down, back and around.
Then Lucky and I got lucky some more. Because we walked the carpet together to the front entrance, an employee there assumed we had the right (which we should) to hang out in the awards show holding area which had an open bar (free drinks!). Once more, this gave me the oppportunity to take more photos. Hillary Scott was the M.C.
Eventually, it was time for us to be lead down the red carpet inside the casino (packed with spectators everywhere, on either side of the ropes) to where the awards ceremony was about to begin, but when we got to the entrance of the awards we were asked for tickets and had none. It turns out the wristbands we got for free drinks did not suffice as a pass to get in. Not that we were interested in sitting through the long show, I just thought we might get a few more photos before leaving.
It turns out there was no way out except going back from the direction we came, up the red carpet, so though it was a hassle swimming against the flow, it gave me the opportunity to take more photos (which was not so easy as they were walking pretty fast). When we got outside, Lucky discovered her Filipino fan club waiting for her and posed for more pictures.
The afterparty we went to on Saturday night was just one of a dozen and virtually no other talent were there, though the place was loud and overpacked; so no pictures of that.
